THEMAPublic letter |
Dear Carol I just came on your website http://www.thegraycenter.org/ and read the interesting message. On the new website http://www.carolgraysocialstories.com/ I did not find much information and the e-mail address does not function so I put this letter in the internet, hoping that you will find it there. I am very curious after your social stories as I have been writing Social Stories on my website http://www.hpi-heiltherapie.de/hpi-therapie.ch/comatherapy.no/index.html. My website has been in the air since 2010, the year that I came in touch with patients in coma and found out that they are not patients that are not capable to move but need to be moved to be able to move. That seems logic but it is not the way, as far as I have experienced, that patients in coma are treated. The idea that patients in coma are palliative patients in stead of rehabilitation patients shows the "non-autistic" view of the world on patients in coma. The awareness is tested by tests that need a movement as an answer to get awareness points although the diagnose is "patient in coma" which means: "can not move visibly". During the past 4 years I have been trying to get aware about what patients in coma need and diagnosed myself as an autistic person, while my definition of the autistic person is someone for who the NOW is endless. The autistic person will do what he sees must be done to change the future. The autistic person that is in a state of coma will do the opposite or nothing. Well, I was looking for the program of the mother of Prince Friso who died after 1 1/2 year having been patient in coma. I did not succeed to get in touch with that family before he died, other than winking at them. When we have the conviction that everything goes the way it has to be, why bothering to change anything? I do write you because from the program of Princes Beatrix of Holland I came to Princes Mary of Danmark and she is related to you because of the interest in autistic people. I am looking for the person that is capable to change the idea that the brain of autistic people must be operated to make them incapable to defend themselves and I am looking for the person that is capable to speak for patients in coma. So they will no longer be kept in the bed, given nothing to eat or be killed by not moving them and not feeding them or ..... The discussions about patients in coma seem not to be about making it possible for them to move but rather how to take them out of life that "we", the "speaking and moving world" seem to diagnose as "not worth living" or "painful". The pain is the pain that what is sensed is not followed, as the autistic person has been experienced so often in his or her life? I am very interested in your short stories that I did not find in the internet and I would be very pleased if you could help me find the door that the key hpi-therapy fits on and that I could prove that my ideas about how a patient in coma must be treated to be able to move again, are right. Sincerely ing. Isabelle Brandenburg Rotenbuck 13
