Lausanne

You tell me you were offered a job in Lausanne. I envy you. I would like to move to Switzerland. I started my foreign country carrier there.

I remember Lausanne, I was there with my parents and we stayed in the Lausanne Palace hotel. We had the rooms at the front, just above the entrance. I loved this richness.

Lausanne is to me also the lac Léman and than I come to Genève where I was fille au pair. I learned French there because I did not learn it properly at school. The new system had begun and I did not get the 13 subjects that one learned before, with all the 3 foreign languages but had to drop a lot as only 6 subjects could be chosen.

I choose French but the school decided that, as I was the only one that did not want English they forced me to learn English instead of French. Because that would be easier to make the plan for the teachers.

And at the end others had French when we had English so I could have been with that class. But the teacher that made the plan was not that flexible, so I learned English at school and only 3 years French.

I did not know what to do after school so I had the opportunity to go to Geneva to learn French and I had a very good time there. I did not talk much and surprised the family after about 3 months with a whole sentence in French but after I left I spoke that good French that friends in Paris asked me where I came from.

They did not recognise my accent, maybe the south of France? I fell very honoured that French people thought I was French. That does not happen here in Germany. Everybody hears that I am Dutch. I do not mind any longer. I was too old as I came here.

After 12 years in Germany I still talk German with a Dutch accent but I also talk Dutch with a German accent. So now I am at home nowhere if you hear me talk. If I write that is not so much the case probably.

I am aware of the fact that I can not write any language without faults but I noticed that a lot of Germans do make mistakes too if they write German and perfection is impossible. I have tried to be perfect long enough. Now I can be imperfect.

That is good enough to be able to help patients in coma to be able to move again. Therefore I teach in EDUCATION how patients in coma have to be treated to be able to move again.
