The world trip

Internet Cyber Café

WRITING

Yesterday after church I went to the hospital to visit the vicar once more, knowing it would be the last time as I would leave today. He said, that he had been thinking of me, if I had gone to Jakarta already. It was nice, to walk through town on Sunday. The traffic was a little bit less than on the other days. I did not stay long at Pastoor van Eijks bed but left, hoping he would have a good time where ever he was going to recover.

Today I had my last breakfast with rice and fish and left with the small bus to the ALS - Stasjon, the bus station, where the bus to Jakarta leaves. I had had some difficulties to find it because it is a long walk from the post office. The last time I was at the post office where I met this lovely woman the first day in Medan, I asked in a hotel where I could find the bus to Jakarta.

I was very surprised that the man I talked with spoke Dutch. He told me, that his 76-year old father or some age like that, speaks Dutch very well! I would have liked to talk to him but I was looking for the bus to Jakarta and he told me I had to go to the ALS - Stasjon because the bus to Jakarta starts there. I went there and informed myself about the prices. It seemed as expensive as the plane but I prefer to take the bus now.

The bus needs 4 days and nights drive from Medan to Jakarta. As I came at the ALS - Station today I wanted to take the 12 o‛clock bus, but that was not possible. So I got a ticket for the 15.00 o‛clock bus and had some hours to wait. I asked where I could find an internet café because I hoped I would find a couch-surfing host in Jakarta that would offer me a place to stay. At the Honda-motorcycle shop they told me where I would find an internet café and how I could get there. It was the first internet café that I visited on this trip as I was able to go in internet at Be TOURIST in Kuala Lumpur.

I did my couch surfing and went back to the ALS - Stasjon, where I was back good in time. The bus was full and I sat behind the drivers next to a very nice young woman that lives at the other side of Sumatra while her daughter is living with the father who lives in Medan. I lost some papers on the trip and her name was on one of them. She has been a very good mate to me on the whole trip.

She did not understand that I was not eating or drinking, so she gave me tea and soup on the first day. She is a very lovely soul and I hope to hear from her. The drivers were very nice people too. There are two drivers at the time. One is behind the steering wheel, the other is sitting at the other side and keeping his eyes open to be able to tell the driver if it is safe to overtake. And he shouts out of the bus in the towns where we are going, in case someone wants to be with us.

I was awake almost the whole night, enjoying the drive and the presence of the young woman. She slept. She had to digest the experiences from some days in Medan. She was very sad that she could not take her daughter with her. I told her, that she must use her love to stay in contact with the father of her daughter and the girl so all will get the best out of the situation.

I am doing something like that too, as the community has not yet found a way to integrate the education that I offer to be therapist for coma patients or nurse. This can be learned and is taught in the hpi-COURSES.
