THE DINNER

On my way to the Mala Dua I pass the square in front of the Batavia Café and stop to observe the group of people that is doing several acts. I do not like the acts as eating glass and using whips. A normal person would feel pain by the acts they do.

These people are trained not to feel the pain. Also small kids are part of the group. I feel sad. I know how it is not to feel pain. It also took my feelings of joy, security and love. Is this the same with these people?

At the Mala Dua I do not go into the same building as the day before as that was so noisy and crowded and, I want to experience something new. So I go into the building opposite of the clothing building, expecting clothes too.

But my expectation is not right. It is the electronic building. On the tables it sais that there are also cloth shops so I look for them and find one.

And at this little shop I buy myself a trousers. The woman tells me the price, I want the trousers that fit me great and that is not what the trousers I find in the West do. They usually are much too big. I do not have the Dutch posture but the small Indonesian, like my mother had.

I feel good in the trousers so the price is OK for me but for the play I try to pay less and that is rewarded. We both feel good as we both got more than expected. I am a typical Western person. Used to fixed prices and not able to change that idea. My idea about money is disturbed by the millions that they have here.

I try to get aware of the value of the money but it is still difficult. I am happy to have found the trousers that will fit for the wedding dinner without having to go into the busy and noisy building at the other side again.

In the afternoon I go to the hotel where the dinner party will be and I take my Compu with me as I am quite early. I take a place in the hall and work with my Compu. Outside I saw 2 huge Indonesian flower pictures to wish the groom and bride luck. I expect them to come in for the dinner but that is not the case.

They stay outside so hardly anyone has seen them. I was walking past them but if you drove that way, the chance you saw them is minimal. I had seen such pictures before and wondered what they were. As i saw them at the hotel I knew what they were.

They are made of small colourful pieces of paper that are made like flowers and all these little paper flowers are covering a huge plate and forming a nice picture to wish the persons that are having the feast a nice feast or good life together or.... The hotel did not bring those nice colourful pictures down to the room where the wedding dinner took place and that made, that lots of guests did not see them.

I wonder if the groom and the bride have seen them? To me that is like sending flowers to the hotel where someone is having his birthday party and the hotel does not send the flowers up to the guest but leaves them at the desk downstairs without telling the guest that flowers came for him.

Indonesia has other rules than the West it seems. I loved the dinner. Usually I do not eat meat but there I had the best meat I remember. Indonesia is another place on earth than the West and to me that is the reason that I eat totally different there from here.

In the West I eat a lot of cheese and chocolat. in Indonesia I did not miss them at all. The love of the people in the streets was enough for not getting hungry.

After the dinner I stayed to do some more Computer work and as I came at the Trans Jak station, the Trans Jak was no longer driving. The last one had passed about 30 minutes before. So I decided to walk. Jakarta is a large town, the dinner was in the south, I was staying in the north so I had lots of kilometers to walk.

I had asked a guardsman if the Trans Jak was still going and he had told me that it was not. I was very surprised that after I just walked some meters, an old bus stopped and let me get in. I hopped in, glad I did not have to walk the whole bit.

Some place they threw me out and told me how to get further to the hotel I was staying. This sort of helpful spontaneous actions I met a lot on this world trip and made that I found my self confidence again. Also the contacts I hade at the dinner party were very important to me as I experienced the non speaking communication that is always honest.

If you want to learn more about the non speaking communication you might find an EDUCATION that attracts you.
